Welcome to Los Padres Pack 93

Pack 93 is a Cub Scout Pack located in Orcutt, California and is sponsored by Calvary Chapel Church.  Orcutt is a community just outside Santa Maria, located on the Central Coast of California. We are an active pack that schedules at least one event per month year-round with one or more “signature” events during the year.

FEES & KITS

Fees and purchase of kits can be done in the Santa Maria Service Center for the  Boy/Cub Scouts located in the Santa Maria Town Center Mall or purchased online.   Kits will be available for pickup at the workshops held at Fence Factory in Santa Maria, or use the contact form located on our Contact page to inquire about other arrangements.

Early Bird Registration July 1st – July 27th

  • Early Bird Registration Fee  - $15

RACING PROCEDURE

  • Cub Scouts bring Cub mobile to inspection station where it is checked weighed and numbered.
  • Cars and drivers go to the registration table where the names and car are checked on the schedule.
  • Consent to participate must be signed by guardian on race day.
  • Drivers may practice on the course until the flag ceremony.
  • As his name is called by announcer, each cub reports to the starting gate.
  • When cars are released by starter, drivers should stay in their own lanes.
  • After driving, the car is parked and the cub returns to the spectator section.
  • Any Scout that is not at the staging area when his name is called will forfeit that run.
  • If the car goes off the track during the run, the Scout will get a restart.
  • All drivers must wear protective gear, such as bike helmet, long pants, closed-toe shoes, long sleeve race shirt or long sleeve uniform.

CUB MOBILE SPECS AND PARTS

  • Wheels must not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
  • All wheels must be equipped with solid rubber tires.
  • Car frame is made from 2-by-4-inch construction lumber.
  • The overall length of the car is a min. of 5 feet; the wheel base a max. of 4 feet. The wheel base is the distance between the two axles)
  • The outside circumference of the wheel may vary from 30 to 36 inches.
  • Use roundhead 1/4-inch bolts to hold frame. Screws are a second choice. Nails are not suitable, because they may work lose.
  • All cars must have a seat with braced backrest, so the cub can comfortably steer with his feet.
  • If threaded axles are used, the nuts must be secured with cotter pins or wire.
  • Cars must be equipped with a safety belt securely fastened to the main frame of the car.
  • Cars must be equipped with a hand brake with its rubbing surface faced with a rubber material such as a strip of an old tire.
  • During a race, the two 2-by-4-inch blocks fastened 1/2 inch from the centerboard will limit the turning radius
